Donny & Marie

Last night we got a babysitter and the adults went to see Donny & Marie perform.  They put on a great show!  It was fun to have some adult time!

Dance Recital

Today was the big dance recital.  Granny Nanny and Grandpa Dave came to see the show.  Our friend Sherry came to watch her also.  Sam did a great job.  She loves to perform!  The entire recital was a huge production and everyone did an awesome.  After the recital I had to leave quickly and head to the mountain for camp setup.  We have an amazing ward, they were all done by the time we got up there.

Art heads

I have been going through all the school papers I have laying around my house.  I found these silhouettes the boys made in art last month.

CAMP KICKOFF

Tonight was Camp Kickoff.  I have never been to one of these so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  We were supposed to come up with a “jingle” and say it to introduce ourselves.  Let me just tell you, I totally missed the boat on this one.  When they told me to come up with a jingle I was thinking we would stand up, do a little 30 second thing to introduce the Swan Princesses and sit down.  Ohhhh NO!  Wards were getting up and doing complete songs and dances!  I felt really bad, because I didn’t know.  Ours was way too short, but I felt others were way too long.  This has made me really worried for what to expect at camp, what else am I supposed to just know!  Yikes.  Anyway, the shirts I designed turned out so cute.  So even though our “jingle” was a flop, we looked super cute doing it!

Camp banner

I am the ward camp director so I have been busy planning girls camp for the YW in our ward.  It has been really fun.  It is stake camp this year and the theme is “Happily Ever After.”  They picked it from the talk by Pres. Uchtdorf.  It was a great talk!  Part of my assignment was to pick a fairytale to represent our ward and the attribute the stake had given us.  Ours was Honesty.  The talk was all about princesses so I wanted us to be a fairytale with a princess.  I chose to be the Swan Princesses.  It is the story of the Ugly Duckling with a twist.  Once the Ugly duckling realized she wasn’t a duck at all, once she was honest with herself about who she really was, her true self shined through and she discovered she was a Swan Princess.  I am so excited about our theme.  We made this banner to hang up at our campsite, I designed it and I think it turned out AWESOME!

piano recital

Max had a summer piano recital tonight.  Everyone played patriotic songs.  He played "Hail to the Chief" and "Anchors Aweigh".  He did a great job!.  I know I have said it before but he really has a natural talent for the piano.  I hope he keeps with it.

flashback

This is one of those déjà vu moments.  I saw Hunter wearing this and it reminded me of Max when he was younger doing the same thing.  Max was 10 months.  Hunter is 20 months.

We drove home today from our trip.  I think Hunter wants to go back to the beach!

aquarium and waterpark

Today we went back to Legoland.  We spent the morning in the aquarium and the afternoon in the waterpark.

The waterpark would have been more fun if I wasn’t freezing.  If you stayed in the water it was fine, but to get out and stand in line it was way toooo cold.  The kids didn’t seem to mind, but I finally just wrapped Hunter and I in a towel and watched everyone else swim.

San Diego beach

Today we spent the day at the beach.  We drove to the Navy Base and played on their beach.  It was great.  Hardly anyone was there and they had bathrooms and showers really close.  The kids loved playing in the sand.  The birds were a little annoying and very brave.  They stole a whole bag of our chips and ripped a hole in it so they could eat them.

We built sandcastles, buried each other in the sand and looked for shells.  It was just a fun lazy day at the beach.

That night we found a little Mexican restaurant to go to.  It was soooooo yummy!

Legoland

Today we went to Legoland.  We probably should have come here first.  Max was a little bored with the rides here.  He wanted to go back on the big & fast roller coasters.  But he still had a good time.

The rides were perfect for Kye and Sam.  Even Hunter could go on a few more rides here.

We even found a little bit of home there.

They did have one roller coaster with a pretty good drop.  Trevor took the older three on it while I watched with Hunter from the side.  Sam screamed the entire ride, the boys just laughed.  I took them on the Dragon Coaster after that while Trevor stayed with Hunter.  I sat in the same car as Sam.  She did great for the first part, then these doors open and the dragon starts going up and up and up.  We don’t even get to the top and Sam is screaming and crying that she didn’t really want to go on this ride.  “Why did I make her go on this ride?”   Then we get to the top and it slowly glides around on a track, I was laughing because of all the build up and it was nothing.  When it was all over Sam says “I want to go again, that wasn’t scary at all!”  She then proceeded to ride it 3 or 4 more times, silly girl.  It was another fun day!

Knott's Berry Farm

We went on a family vacation this week.  Trevor had the week off so we headed to California.  We let Max and Kye pick where they wanted to go as their birthday presents.  Max wanted to go to Knottsberry Farm and Kye picked Legoland.  We drove to California yesterday and stayed in the Knottsberry Farm Resort, which was great because it was right next to the park and could just walk to the entrance.

We split up right away.  Trevor took the boys on the big rollercoaster, while Sam, Hunter and I headed to the little rides.

Sam loved the rides!

I took Hunter on a few rides and he wasn’t quite sure about the whole thing at first.  But it turned out he LOVED the rides.  He would cry every time they stopped and I had to take him off.  It took a while but he finally figured out that we were going to another ride.  We went on a bunch of rides by the time the boys joined us.  They had to wait in a long line.

The kids loved most of the rides.

We took them on the log ride and the picture is worth a thousand words.

It was a fun day!  The kids are already asking when they can come back.

mowing the lawn

We decided it was time for Max to learn how to mow the lawn.  So yesterday Trevor took Max out and showed him how to start the mower and how to push it around the yard.  I thought it was great, Max wasn’t very excited about it.

graduation

Trevor graduated from Weapon’s School tonight!!!!  YEAH!  The last six months have been really tough for Trevor, but he made it through.  The graduation was down on the strip at the Flamingo Hotel.  It was a chance for us to get dressed up and celebrate his accomplishment.  Our babysitters’ dad is a photographer so I asked if he would take a few pictures of us.  I am glad he did because my camera was having issues at the graduation and I didn’t get any pictures there.  Trevor got a new “party” shirt for the event.   It was a fun night and we are both glad the whole weapons school thing is done!

Sam loves it when her daddy paints her nails!  I think Trevor loves it too.

Last day of school

Today was the last day of school!  I like to send in something for their teachers.  This year I went to Great Harvest and they had the perfect gift bags!  The boys said someone else in their class gave the same thing, I figure you can’t have too much bread.

awards’ assemblies

Max and Kye did great in school this year.  For the final trimester they both earned Straight A’s and received the Citizenship Award.  This year they gave out medals to the kids who earned straight A’s for the entire year.  Kye was one of three in his class to earn this.  Max was also one of three in his class.  Great job boys!!!!!

reading theater

Today Kye’s class performed a reading theater for all the parents.
Max did this same thing when he was in first grade.  Kye did a great job!

He read his lines perfectly and so loud and clear.  I was so proud of him.

He had a great teacher and had a fun year.

Donuts for everyone!

Because Max and Kye have summer birthdays they get to bring treats the last week of school to celebrate.  We chose to bring them today because they had so many end of year parties planned.  They both wanted to bring donuts.  I couldn’t carry everything so we loaded up our wagon with 4 dozen donuts and 4 boxes of Capri suns.  I carried Hunter while the older kids took turns pulling the wagon.  We made our deliveries and as soon as the wagon was empty Hunter and Sam jumped in the wagon.  They thought it was fun to go down the school hallways in a wagon.  I kind of felt like we were breaking the rules and a teacher was going send us to the principals’ office.
