Sam and Hunter have a love/hate relationship. They can be the best of friends and then in the next moment they are driving each other crazy. It starts so young! I usually get Hunter in the tub first and then Sam will join him. He doesn’t speak words, but he lets out a scream/grunt that lets me know he doesn’t agree with Sam invading his tub time. But once she is in they play together and neither wants to get out.

playing games
We love to play board games at our house. I have always liked games and I love it that my kids do too. But lately it is becoming more difficult to actually play because Hunter wants to join in. The older kids were trying to play Ticket to Ride and Hunter kept climbing on the table and grabbing the trains. The kids think Hunter’s new “smile” is hilarious, so Max has to do the same. And if you look closely Sam is eating a train; maybe that is part of her strategy to get rid of all her trains first!

planty
Tonight at Sam’s soccer practice the boys were kicking a soccer ball to each other. Max kicked it up into a tree and as it fell to the ground it broke some small branches off. Kye picked one up and named it “Planty”. He carried it around with him and decided to bring it home. Tonight when the boys were in the shower and I walked in to check on them, I discovered Kye in the shower with Planty. He was “cleaning his leaves.” He wanted to take him to bed with him, but I talked him into putting him in a cup of water on the counter.

treat?!?
Our FHE treat tonight was root beer floats. We made one for Hunter and put it in his sippie. He didn’t really like it. He kept taking sips and would give us a look of disgust.

driving memory
When I was going through pictures and saw this picture of Hunter it brought back the memory of Max doing the same thing. Hunter reminds me so much of Max when he was little. It took some digging, but I found the picture I was thinking of. Silly boys!
This is Max in April 2004. They are almost exactly the same age in these pictures.

the fort
Max needed to visit a historical site to pass off a Cub Scout achievement. So we headed to the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort today. When we showed up, there was a civil war history group there. They were letting everyone dress up in civil war attire and take pictures. Our house must be pretty interesting since Trevor and I are officers on opposite sides of the war. Sam wouldn’t put an outfit on. But they taught her how to make a belt out of yarn. She thought it was so cool. She wouldn’t even take it off that night for her bath!
The fort was small but the kids had fun running around. Of course their favorite part was playing in the water.

his two loves
Hunter has two loves, his woobie and his sippie (some days more than one sippie). He carries these things all over the house, outside and even in the car when we go places. I won’t let him bring them in stores, which makes him mad. I just don’t like trying to keep track of them; I hope one day he will understand!

picnic in the car
Today when Sam got home from school she wanted to have a picnic at the park. It was cool outside, but I thought it was a good idea to get out. So I packed us a lunch and drove to the park. We unloaded and found us a table, but I only lasted 5 minutes. I was freezing!!! The wind was like ice. I told Sam I was going to the car. So we sat in the car and ate our lunch. Sam and Hunter crawled all over and had a great time.

helping
Tonight while I was washing dishes, Hunter came walking in with a chair. He climbed up to the sink and started “helping”. He thought the bubbles were so cool. Thanks for all your help!

feeding the baby
Hunter found this baby bottle and ran to find a baby. I have never seen him play with dolls before, but he knew exactly what to do.

I will...
Kye went to school today, the first time since having his surgery. Everything went well. I think he was happy to go back instead of sitting at home. Today he brought home this cavity-fighting shield. I am putting it on here to document all the things he promises to do for his teeth. Just in case it ever becomes an issue. LOL!

feet doodles
Sam was wearing a pair of pants that had a hole in the knee. We were sitting on the couch and just to be funny I drew a smiley face on her knee. She thought it was funny. Later on I was sitting in a chair reading a book and she decided to draw a “smiley face” on the bottom of my foot. Then she wanted to take a picture of it because I couldn’t see it….silly girl!

team party
Tonight we went to the Mini Gran Prix for Max’s basketball team party. Trevor is TDY this weekend so it was me and the four kids. I took Kye because he said he was feeling up to it, but when we got there he just laid on the benches. I felt bad for him, but there wasn’t anything I could do. Max ran around with his friends riding the rides and I kept Sam and Hunter inside. They all had a good time, except Kye. I told him we would go back and use Max’s award when dad could come with us.
Hunter makes me laugh in this picture. This is his new smile. Every time I bring out the camera and try to take a picture this is the face he gives me. I hope this phase is short because every picture lately looks like he is mad and in a bad mood.

slurpees
Tonight for “movie night” I got the kids slurpees. They wouldn’t stop watching the movie for me to take a picture. They have never had a slurpee before! I thought it would be fun because Kye would be able to eat it. He is doing well and has started eating more solid food, but he still has a jello at every meal. It has been a week and I thought he would be feeling a lot better by now. He went off the pain medicine for a couple days, but I ended up giving him some today because he was complaining it hurt.

award’s assembly
Today was Max’s awards assembly. He received the citizenship, straight A’s and perfect attendance. He also received the BIG award, the Mini Gran Prix. Each trimester one student from each class is chosen for this award. Max has wanted to be picked since first grade. Today he was and he had the biggest smile ever. Great job!
Today was also St. Patrick’s Day, which we forgot about until I dropped Max at school and realized everyone was wearing green. His teacher was nice enough to give him a green sticker to wear. I told him to take a green marker and draw a shamrock on his hand, but he just looked at me like I was crazy or something. That’s what we always did when I was a kid and forgot to wear green.

get well cards
Today was Kye’s award assembly at school. I told his teacher if he felt up to it I would bring him. He wasn’t feeling very good this morning. Mornings have been his hardest time. His throat dries out and hurts when he wakes up. Anyway, when we got his homework packet after school it was full of get well cards from his class. It really cheered him up knowing his class missed him. He got two awards at the assembly today, citizenship and straight A’s. His teacher said she read his name even though he wasn’t there.

she finally gets to play
Sam has wanted to play soccer for over a year now. I kept putting her off because of one excuse or another. But now that she is 4 I signed her up. Tonight was her first practice, she was sooooo excited! She had so much fun running around with all the kids and making new friends.

ice cream
Tonight for FHE I took the kids to get ice cream at McDonalds. Kye’s throat is sore and he has only been eating jello and popsicles. I thought he would enjoy a change. I can definitely tell when the pain medicine wears off. Kye will go from running all over the place to crashing on the couch. Poor guy, I feel so bad for him.

again and again and again
Hunter is driving me crazy with the bath thing! It was cute the first time, funny the second time maybe even the third, but now it is just getting annoying! He is always jumping in the tub with all his clothes on. I will get him out of the tub, get him dressed and before I can get his towel hung up and the tub drained he is back in the tub. He thinks it is a funny game. One night I only got his pajama bottoms on before he ran off. He ran into the bathroom and then ran right back to me. I didn’t even notice he was soaked until I tried to put his pajama top on and realized he was standing in a puddle. He is getting faster at this little game. Oh Hunter, what am I going to do with you!

champions
Max's team won the Championship game today! They are the #1 team in their division. They were pretty excited! They finished 2nd in the regular season (they lost one game). I know I have said it before, but his coach was great. They really pushed Max and improved Max's game. The coach had to pick one player to give the Sportsmanship Award to. It was given to the player who had the best attitude, came to every game and practice happy, tried their hardest and was an example to the other players. The coach picked Max to receive this award! This has been a great basketball season! Goooooo Lakers!

bye bye tonsils
Kye had his tonsils and adenoids taken out today. He did a great job, he was so brave! He was excited because Petty Pup could go with him into surgery.
When we got into pre-op the kid who went in right before Kye was screaming and crying hysterically. I was hoping Kye would be OK, and he was.
He woke up with no issues and drank apple juice right away. He also ate a popsicle before we left the hospital. At home he was feeling good, just tired.
I had to run to the pharmacy for his medicine and when I came home there was a bouquet of balloons on the front doorstep! They were from Grandma A. He has been drinking juice all day and eating jello. At dinner he was upset because he wanted pizza. So I cut a slice into really tiny pieces and let him have it. He seems to be doing well, even though he has thrown up a couple times. I am afraid tomorrow is going to be his really tough day. Poor guy!

butterflies
Today we continued talking about bugs at preschool. But we focused on Butterflies today. We made stained glass butterflies, which I think turned out great.
We learned about the life cycle of a butterfly. I wrapped the kids up in a chrysalis and they had to break free. They thought it looked a lot like toilet paper, but it was a chrysalis, silly kids!

mardi gras
Last night I had a meeting and a friend came over to watch my kids for me. My kids love it when she comes because she brings a craft and a treat. Since it was Mardi Gras yesterday she brought over beads for them to make necklaces and bracelets. They loved it!

ladybugs
It is my turn to teach preschool again. It is amazing how fast six weeks fly by. This week we are learning about bugs. We made ladybug costumes. Jared wouldn't wear his for the picture. We had fun learning about ladybugs and ants today! We sang "The Ants Go Marching" song over and over and over. They loved marching all over the house.

shoes
I definitely got my money's worth on these shoes. I bought Max a pair of Nike sneakers when he was almost one. I saved them and Kye also wore them. I don't think I ever put Sam in them because they are boy shoes, and it was so much fun to buy her girlie shoes. So I saved them for Hunter. I thought it would be fun to see all the boys wearing them.

no nap
Hunter had a rough time at the game today. He didn't get a nap and was exhausted! It is the last game of the regular season, so we made him go because neither of us wanted to miss it. It is tough being the fourth kid in a family.

big teeth
We found this old binkie today. Aunt Pam gave it to Max when he was a baby. I think Hunter was excited when he saw it was a binkie. Sam thought it was so funny she wanted a turn to use it.

friends
These are the neighbor kids and my kids love playing with them. We are sad because they told us they are going to move soon.

stickers
Sam loves stickers! She likes to take the stickers and put them all together on another sheet of paper. She went a little crazy on this sheet. She covered the front and back completely. I remember doing the same thing with stickers when I was little, only I remember none of mine could touch each other.

picnic time
Sam asked if we could have a picnic today. The weather was really nice today. Hunter thought it was so fun to eat outside. He would take a bite then run off and play. Then he would come back and take another bite than run off and play. Sam loves being outside.
