FHE Lesson

Tonight for FHE we were talking about the Wise man who built his house upon the rock and the foolish man who built his house upon the sand. We read the story and had the pictures laid out on the floor so the kids could get a visual.


As a review I asked, "Sam, where did the wise man build his house?"
Sam: "China."
Me: "No, try again."
Sam: "Las Vegas."
Me: "No."
Sam: "I have no idea."

I guess I am not a very good teacher!

star of the week

Kye is star of the week this week.  He had to fill out this poster and color it.  They hang it up in the class for the week for everyone to see.  He got a special cover to put on his chair.  But what he was most excited about is that he gets to be the weather person.

Kye drew his favorite stuffed dog, Petty Pup, a picture.  He felt bad that Petty Pup never gets any presents.

It is funny to see what the kids bring home. I remember writing a poem just like this when I was in school. I don't know what I was thinking, it is not like the fundamentals have changed. It just makes me smile to know some things never change.

coloring

Sam loves to color.  She is so different from the boys.  I couldn't ever get the boys  to color, they didn't like it.  They didn't even start using more than one color on a picture until kindergarten.  Sam on the other had colors every square inch of space.

family tree

Kye had to make a family tree project for school.  He knew exactly what he wanted.  I asked him if he wanted to include cousins, aunts and uncles, but he just wanted to make it simple.  "That's enough" is what he told me. 

space preschool

It is my turn for preschool again we are learning about space.  So for our snack (which I thought turned out so cute!) we made flying saucers.  I made a sample and the kids each made their own.  We were talking about where the alien sits to fly the saucer (in the donut) and one of the kids kept asking if he could have more aliens, "aliens are so good".   I am not sure if he told his mom he ate aliens at my house, but I thought it was funny.

music

Hunter loves the piano.  He has figured out how to climb up on the bench and get the music playing.  He is up there constantly.  He doesn't try to climb on the piano, he just sits on the bench and pushes buttons.

Yesterday we were out and about all day so we decided to go to Red Robin for dinner.  I ordered Hunter mac & cheese, oh what a mess!

biggest fans

All the parents got team t-shirts to wear to all the games.  Gooooo Lakers!  They won again today, they are on a roll.

big brother

I thought this was really sweet of Kye tonight.  I walked in my bedroom and found Kye reading Sam a story.

just like dad

Kye brought home his school journal and this is one of the entries.  I thought it was really nice. 

It says, "If I could be anyone I would be my dad.  My dad is cool.  I want to get a job. It must be fun.  I like my dad.  I want to have kids."

climbing and computers

Hunter loves to climb everything and he loves to push buttons.  So I should have figured it would only be a matter of time before he found the computer.  He has figured out how to climb on the desk and get to the keyboard.  I have to always keep my eye on this little guy!

Hunter got his first sucker today and he LOVED it.  We were at the park at a friend offered him one and I said it was ok.  I put him in the stroller, gave him the sucker and walked home.  I honestly forgot he had it until I got home and he was soooooo sticky.   I kept him buckled up until I could give him a quick wipe down, he didn't like that part. 

brushing teeth

Brushing teeth is always interesting at our house.  It amazes me how toothpaste ends up everywhere.  I am always getting on them about the top of the toothpaste tube because it can get so disgusting.  Tonight I went to put toothpaste on Sam's toothbrush and it came out runny.  When I asked what happened to the toothpaste Sam answered, "I was cleaning the toothpaste and some water got inside."  Some water???  I think most of the toothpaste is now liquid.  Silly girl!

new dress

Sam got a new dress and I LOVE it.  She is starting to like the more fancy looking dresses.  I bought it without her and I was scared she wasn't going to like it.  She usually doesn't like stuff if she doesn't have a say in the matter.  But to my surprise she does like it!  YEAH!!!!!  She wasn't cooperating so I could get a good picture.

"watching" the game

Max has a basketball game every Saturday.  We all go to cheer him on.  What really happens is Kye wants to play a game on the iPhone, Hunter wants to climb all over the bleachers and Sam chases Hunter.  I don't think anyone will ever want to sit by us.

I love this picture.  Hunter is the cutest baby!  He is such a ham when I bring out the camera.

bye bye binkie

Hunter LOVES his binkie.  Right now he only gets to have it when he is in his crib, but it is time to say goodbye.  For the older three I took the binkie away around 12 months.  Hunter has kept his the longest.

On our way to swimming Kye was being silly in the car.

Max's basketball game is improving a lot.  He has a great coach and Max is learning the game.  We are trying to get him to be a little bit more aggressive.  Max is too nice.

shower time

Kye really enjoyed swimming over the break that I signed him up again for lessons this month.  It has really been good for him.  He is good at it and I think it has been a good self esteem boost.  Today I let Max and Sam swim while Kye was in lessons.  When it was time to go I told them to rinse off and change.  They all jumped in the shower and were having as much fun there as in the pool.  Hunter couldn't quite figure out what was going on.

Max and Kye got Criss Cross Crash for Christmas.  Every time they are playing with it Hunter wants to join in on the fun.  They don't like it when he tries to play and I usually have to come to the rescue.  So I had to laugh when I walked into the room and found Hunter playing with it when no one was around.

I gave Hunter a cupcake and the first thing he did was stick his fork in it.  He ate it right off the fork and just laughed.

Sam got a bike basket for her birthday.  I finally put them on for her and she couldn't be more excited.  She calls her bell a "telephone",  I guess because it rings like one.

killing time

I had to take the car into the shop today.  Everyone was at school except Hunter, so we were the lucky ones to spend 3 hours waiting to get the car back.  Hunter did a pretty good job of keeping himself entertained.

For breakfast this morning I brought out the extra Christmas tree roll I had made.  Hunter loved it!  He had frosting and goo all over his entire body.  The picture doesn't show it well, but his hair was so sticky.  He went straight to the bath.

snow

It actually snowed!  Sam was so excited to use her new umbrella she got for her birthday.  It didn't stick or last too long, but she didn't care.

four

Sam turned four today.  She was a little disappointed that we were having a "family" party.  I told her next year we will have a party with friends.  She loved being the center of attention.  Trevor put trick candles on her cake and the kids just laughed because none of them could blow the candles out.

Sam got this decorate-your-own-mirror kit for her birthday from Claire.  She loved putting all the jewels and glitter on it.  She had a lot of fun doing it.

Elise gave Sam this hat and she loves it.  I think she loves that it is from her favorite aunt.
