I received an early Mother’s Day gift today. I went and got a manicure and a pedicure with some friends. It is one of my favorite things to do. Sam has been asking when she can go with me.

black friday
Elise and I decided to shop Black Friday. Neither of us were looking for anything in particular. We just wanted to see what it was all about.
We were amateurs at the first store. The store opened at 10pm (11/25) and we arrived at 9:55. We didn't bring jackets, thinking we would just be running from the car to the warm store. Oh boy were we wrong. When we got there the line was wrapped around two sides of the building outside. They were only letting a few people in the store at a time so the line wasn't moving very quickly. When we couldn't find the end of the line we bailed. So off we went back home to bundle up. We didn't want to wait in the line so we went to the next store.
The next store was packed and we made another rookie mistake of grabbing a cart. We couldn't even move through the crowd. So we split, one stayed with the cart while the other grabbed the goods. We only got a couple things and stood in line FOREVER waiting to check out. But we were having a good time and headed to the next store.
The next store didn't open until 4 am. It was 1 am, but we were prepared. We brought chairs, blankets, hand warmers and feet warmers. We set up camp and made friends with our neighbors in line. We were all having a good time. IHOP even came and sold us hot chocolate. So yes we spent 3 hours waiting in line to shop. I sent Trevor a text since he was getting off work from the swing shift telling him what we were up to and he thought I was joking. He didn't believe I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for a store to open, hence the beautiful self portrait. We got what we came for and were home in our beds by 5:30am.
I don't know if I will ever do it again. But it was fun to spend the night with my sister being silly.

CSI
Tonight we hit the town with some good friends. We went down to the strip and had dinner at Nine Fine Irishmen in the New York New York Casino. We then went to the MGM Grand and solved a case in the CSI Experience. Of course you have to be a complete moron not to solve it, but we had a fun time.

haircuts in the wind
Today we did haircuts and it was so windy. It felt like a hair dryer. Then the hair kept flying in our eyes after I would cut it. We could cut hair in the house, but I don't like the hair all over inside. The boys are good sports about it all.

strawberry jam
I have never made freezer jam, but I have seen it done and didn't think it looked too hard. I had some strawberries that were going to go bad, so I thought I would try it. What a mess! Kye and Sam asked if they could help so I let them put the strawberries in the blender and push the buttons. I was using a spoon to push the strawberries down in the blender and I went to low. The blade caught my spoon, which made me jerk back and the strawberries went flying. It splattered on Sam's head, Kye's shirt, in my hair and all over the kitchen. The strawberries were blended too much, so the jam was very smooth. And then to top it all off, Trevor told me he likes store bought better

mother's day
The kids were so excited to give me all the things they made for me at school. Kye brought something home from school almost every day last week. He would come in and tell me to close my eyes. He would then run and hide my present so I wouldn't see it before today. Max made me a bookmark. Sam, Hunter and Trevor gave me a little camera to keep in my purse, so I will always have one with me. Trevor cooked dinner; waffles, eggs and sausage. And yesterday on their way home from camping the boys stopped by Marie Calendars and got a pie. Mmmmmmm I love their pies. I don't have a favorite, I like them all!

primary rockers

Tonight was our wards annual Lip Sync. All the auxillery presidencies have to perform or else they get to talk in church. It was a fun time. This is our primary presidency and we rocked out to "Book of Mormon Stories."
Today I have to include two pictures, because Trevor is the High Priest Group leader and they sang "Send Me to Glory in a Glad Bag." A picture is worth a thousand words.
